What we know about you

Kindling collects very little, and this page lists all of it: what we store, who processes it for us, what’s public, and how to get it deleted. No legalese maze. If something below is unclear, email us and we’ll answer plainly.
Plain-English summary
The short version: the formal text below says the same thing
- We store your order details, the dedication text you wrote, your email (only if you sign in), and the proof photos, which never show faces.
- Payments run through Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- We use Stripe, Neon, Vercel, RentAHuman, Resend, and an AI photo-check service to run Kindling. That’s the whole list.
- We never sell your personal data, and we run no ad trackers.
- Want your data gone? Email support@kindlingdeeds.com and we’ll delete it.
1What we store
Order details: the deed you funded, the price, timestamps, order status, and a Stripe payment reference. We never see or store your card number. That stays with Stripe.
Dedication and display name: the optional short dedication you type at checkout and the optional public leaderboard name. Both are limited to 40 characters and stored with the order.
Your email: only if you create an account or claim your deeds. Sign-in is by emailed magic link, so the account is just your email address. Funding a deed without an account stores no email at all; the order lives at an unguessable link.
Proof photos: the before-and-after photos the doer submits. Per our ethics rules, they show places and items, never identifiable people. A photo with a face in it fails verification.
2What's public
A completed deed mints a public Impact Card page (the proof photos plus your dedication, if you wrote one) at an unguessable link that’s only shared if you share it (completed cards also appear in our sitemap). The leaderboard shows your chosen display name, or an anonymous label if you didn’t choose one. Your email is never shown anywhere, ever.
3Who processes it for us
We run on a small set of processors, each doing one job:
Stripe: card payments and checkout. Neon: our Postgres database. Vercel: hosting and proof-photo storage. RentAHuman: the marketplace where deeds are posted and doers are paid; doers see the deed location and instructions, never your name, email, or dedication. Resend: the emails we send you (sign-in links, order updates). Anthropic: the AI service that checks proof photos against each deed’s rules before any doer is paid.
4What we never do
We never sell your personal data, never share it for advertising, and run no third-party ad trackers or analytics scripts. The only cookies we set are the functional ones that keep you signed in.
5Deletion and your rights
Email support@kindlingdeeds.com from the address on your account (or with your order link, for anonymous orders) and we will delete your personal data: your account, email, dedication, and display name. We keep what the law makes us keep (payment records for tax and accounting), and proof photos may be retained since they depict public places, not people; we’ll unlink them from anything identifying you. You can also ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
Residents of some jurisdictions (e.g. California under the CCPA, or the EU/UK under GDPR) may have additional statutory rights.
